What is “Anonymous” ?

Anonymous, the shadowy group of hackers that grew out of on the website 4Chan, has made headlines quite a bit in recent months. The loosely organized group of “hacktivists,” which typically aligns itself with liberal causes, has brought down the websites of Visa, PayPal, and the Westboro Baptist Church.

We are Anonymous.

We are Legion.

We do not forgive.

We do not forget.

Victims of Anonymous:

MasterCard,Visa and PayPal:

In 2010, Anonymous mounted “Operation Payback,” a wide-ranging effort to punish pro-copyright groups that had cracked down on Internet piracy. In December, the initiative expanded to include companies and individuals who had come out against WikiLeaks and its founder, Julian Assange. When MasterCard ceased processing payments connected to WikiLeaks, Anonymous crippled the company’s websites with denial-of-service attacks. Visa, PayPal, and the website of Assange critic Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) suffered the same fate. On its website, one Anonymous member explained that the group isn’t affiliated with WikiLeaks, but fights for the same reasons: “We want transparency and we counter censorship. The attempts to silence WikiLeaks are long strides closer to a world where we can not say what we think and are unable to express our opinions and ideas.”

FBI and DOJ (#OpMegaUpload):

After the SOPA act, the one of the largest file sharing site MegaUpload.com was shutdown by the FBI. You can visit the site and can see the site blocked. The 4 main members of the sites were arrested in NewZealand. Anonymous came to there help and took down FBI’s site and DOJ (Department of Justice site). Check out the following video

Sony was a big supporter of SOPA and PIPA acts. These acts limit the free sharing of knowledge. Anonymous is against this and decided to take down Sony. They took down there main site and the PSN network. In the hacking attack on Sony they have stolen almost all the sensitive data of more than 70 million users. Check out the following videos.

Syrian President’s Email Hacked:

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has been under fire from world leaders to step down this week. He’s also under fire from hacktivist group Anonymous, who leaked hundreds of his office’s emails on Monday.

While Anonymous is infamous for its hacking know-how, it doesn’t take a genius computer programmer to guess one of the passwords commonly used by Assad’s office accounts: 12345. The string of consecutive numbers is the second-weakest password according to a 2011 study.

NYPD (New York Police Department) (#OpOccupyWallStreet):

Anonymous gave a very strong message to NYPD that if they will stop people from protesting and from expressing there thoughts then the hacktavist group will take NYPD down by the means of internet. Check out the following message by them.

41 Malaysian government website hacked:

Malaysian government was doing censorship on sites like Piratebay and wikileaks. Anonymous says that government should not censor anything and it is the basic right of the people to see everything without government interference. Check out the following new report followed by the message by anonymous.
